KPIRG Wants You! (Looking for 3 Board members)

We’re releasing a call for one (1) interim board director and two (2) regular Board members to be appointed from the Kwantlen Polytechnic University community. 

Board Positions available:
– Director of Community Relations
– Anti-Oppression Officer
– Board Organizer

**What is the KPIRG Board of Directors?

KPIRG is committed to social and environmental justice, KPIRG is a campus-based group with a mandate for research, education and action on issues of social and environmental justice. KPIRG is a student and community funded and volunteer-driven organization that works to empower students and community members, to give people the tools and the opportunity to work cooperatively for a more just and healthy society.

The Board of Directors is the decision-making governing body, elected annually, to uphold KPIRG’s organizational mandate. It implements policy, approves programming, manages the annual budget, and acts as an employer for part-time, unionized staff members. Board members are responsible for decisions made at Board meetings and work collaboratively with staff and volunteers.

**Who Are We Looking For

-Full time and part time undergraduates at Kwantlen Polytechnic University
-Members of the Kwantlen Polytechnic University community (alum, staff, faculty etc)
-We especially encourage people with experiential knowledge of racism, colonization, poverty, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, and sexism to apply.

**How does the KPIRG Board of Directors work?

We ask that ALL individuals who are interested in being part of the 2015-2016 Board of Directors make a commitment to KPIRG until the end of the Fall term. The level of participation and involvement of Board members may vary depending on financial constraints, office hours, outreach, holidays, and the going-ons of life—we understand all of this.

The following are the time commitments we ask of ALL our Board members (*Estimated 10-15 hours per month*):

-You MUST attend Board meetings – generally held bi-weekly, though the exact frequency of meetings will be determined by Board members at the beginning of the term
-Involvement in a committee, established and struck by the KPIRG Board (in place of Portfolios), which will meet once a month, or by the discretion of the committee
-Office hours at KPIRG, once a week (for at least five hours)
