Black History Month: a celebration

A City of Surrey sponsored event and a collaboration with KPIRG, African Stages, and the Students of Colour Collective, invite you and all of your friends and family for a two-day Black History Month event series. There will be workshops, storytelling, a fashion show, and an amazing lineup of guest speakers/panelists! Food and drinks will be provided and it’s FREE for anyone to attend!

Where: Conference Centre (1205 Cedar building), Surrey Campus

A cultural forum of the highest quality, the BHM Celebrations will provide a marvelous opportunity for Surrey residents and world-renowned guest speakers to come together to celebrate, scrutinize, and reflect on Black History, with an emphasis on Canadian, Caribbean, and continental African contexts.

The BHM Confab will serve as a platform for sharing with the local community the histories, contemporary relevance, and envisioned trajectories of Black peoples. The Confab will take the form of interactive workshops, panel discussions, and a public forum, with fashion show, poetry, music, and interactive dance interludes throughout.

Activities include:
*Keynote addresses by prominent individuals
*Cultural dance perfomances
*Storytelling sessions
*Fun, interactive workshops
*Fashion show, and many others
