Event page:

March 8, 2017
KPU Surrey, Cedar 1205
12:00 – 4:00PM

On March 8, community organizers, activists, scholars, slam poets, and students will converge for an afternoon of emancipatory conversations, activities, reflection, planning, and celebration. For the event, we are focusing on the experiences of working-class women of colour: policing of working-class communities of colour and the criminalization of the poor; hyper-exploitation and precarity; temporary foreign worker program; and eroding public services and spaces for women.

Among our speakers, these are the following who will be there to present:
Jennifer Allan from Grassroots Women
Adriana Smetzer from West Coast Domestic Workers’ Association
Brittney Sharma from South Asian Women Against Male Violence
Parminder Swaich from East Indian Defence Committee
Sumaiya Tufail who will be performing slam poetry, and;
Itrath Syed.

You are also more than welcome to invite friends, family, or to share this event with anyone who would be interested in attending! Please let me know if you would like to join us or if you have any questions.
